User-Generated Video: How the University of Edinburgh Boosted User Engagement by Launching the “DIY Film School”

The University of Edinburgh saw a high increase of video usage across the institution and decided to launch a video platform using Kaltura KMS, to meet the growing demand for video coming from the institution’s staff and students.

In order to encourage students to create user-generated videos, the University of Edinburgh launched a short course, the “DIY Film School” to provide students with the knowledge and tools they needed to create video content using their own mobile phone cameras, but with some additional equipment to get better quality videos.

The program was extremely well received and resulted in the collection of about 10 terabytes of video, uploaded and accessible through the Kaltura KMS platform.
